Wigmore Lawn Tennis Club
Opened in May 1911, Wigmore Lawn Tennis Club is situated in a quiet enclave, in attractive grounds, close to Streatham High Road. In 2008 the club was awarded Clubmark status (now Tennismark+) and was one of the first clubs in the area to be awarded this prestigious status.
Wigmore is a friendly club with a varied membership of all ages, backgrounds and standards of play. The club is not just a fantastic place to play tennis, it has a great community feel and there are many social events throughout the year.
Social Play
There are a few social play sessions each week. So whether you are looking to play in the afternoon or evening, there’s plenty of opportunities to turn up and mix in. Every social play session is fun and members are always welcoming of new people. Also, you’re able to use courts when they’re free.
Coaching
The club holds one of Surrey’s premier programmes, providing coaching to over 600 players per week. The huge range of coaching services includes adult and junior group sessions arranged by ability. Private lessons for all ages. Junior holiday camps and performance squads. There’s also Cardio Tennis session available.
Competitive Tennis
Wigmore is a thriving competitive club. Members enjoy competing in both Club and Open tournaments throughout the year for both Juniors and Adults. This is on top of popular internal box leagues and a busy team schedule.
Membership
Prospective members are welcome to come down for one Sunday afternoon or Wednesday evening club social session. Joining in at one of these enables you to visit the club, meet with members and play a set or two. There is no ‘joining fee’ and no need to ‘play in’ – all ages and abilities are welcome, from complete beginners through to top players.
Non-members can also participate in the group coaching programme for a small per session.
Please note, Wigmore Lawn Tennis Club is currently oversubscribed in the adult age groups. So, new applicants will have to join the waiting list.
