Shiplake Tennis Club
In 1929, Shiplake Tennis & Social Club was formed with 30 members and the construction of two grass courts in the current location behind the Shiplake Memorial Hall. Extensive upgrades and thorough maintenance have made Shiplake Tennis Club’s courts a modern comfortable place for training and match play.
Social Play
Club Sessions run throughout the year. These superb sessions take place on Sundays and Tuesday mornings as well as on Monday and Wednesday evenings. And if that’s not enough playing opportunities, then members are free to book courts whenever they feel like it!
Coaching
The club’s two qualified coaches offer private coaching to all members. For the juniors, there is a thriving development programme.
Competitive Tennis
Shiplake Tennis Club has two mens’ teams in the Winter OLTA league. As well as three ladies teams in the league. And as a result, the club is always on the look out for more competitive players. And if you’re not yet ready to play in a league team, then there is a club championship, which is open to all.
Membership
Due to the club’s popularity, Shiplake Tennis Club operates a waiting list for membership. While fees are very affordable, there is a joining fee and preference is given to local residents.
Extras
In addition to a full calendar of tennis events, members enjoy a number of social events throughout the year.
