Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Squash Rackets Club
The Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club was established in 1897, as a private members club. A Squash section was established in 1973, initially with 3 courts. To reflect this change, the club renamed as the Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Squash Rackets Club in 1974.
Today the club is still a friendly, local tennis, squash and racketball Club with some of the best facilities in the region. Come and enjoy a friendly or highly competitive game whatever your age or standard.
Social Play
Throughout the week, many social tennis session take place and are at the heart of the club. Simply turn up and mix in. There are general club sessions every Tuesday evenings. Ladies meets on Tuesday mornings. The men meet on Saturday mornings. As well as a general social session on a Sunday morning, except the last Sunday of the month when there is an American Tournament in the afternoon. Various social tennis activities also take place throughout the year
Coaching
A large team of highly qualified tennis coaches run an extensive programme. This includes group coaching as well as one-to-one lessons for all ages and abilities. Non-members are welcome to take advantage of the coaching available. The club also has a very strong junior section, compete with regular coaching, competitions and club nights.
Competitive Tennis
If you’re looking for excellent competitive tennis, then Berkhamsted offers a range. There’s team tennis, a competitive singles league, regular tournaments for all levels. As well as a monthly American Tournament, which takes place on the last Sunday of each month.
Membership
While there is adult joining fee, the club offers a range of membership options suitable for all ages. If you only want to play tennis, you can join just this section. However, if you want access to the three racket sports, then there is a membership category for you.
Extras
Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis and Squash Rackets Club is Tennismark certified. The club, therefore is well run and has excellent facilities.
