Wivenhoe Tennis Club
Wivenhoe Tennis Club is a small, friendly club with a big heart. The club welcomes anyone wishing to learn how to play or wishing to return to the game. In 2001, Sport England granted the club the money to built the facility. As part of the grant, the club now actively promotes tennis to all in the local community.
Social Play
The club provides several club sessions each week, where members can come along and join in usually for social doubles play. The courts are also available for the public to hire.
Coaching
The club’s qualified coach is available to help you develop your skills. Coaching at all levels is on offer to both youngsters and adults, with group session and private lessons available. So take a few coaching sessions and see your skills improve.
Competitive Tennis
In 2005, an inter-club Winter League started at the club and this has enabled members to enjoy match play all year round. Many clubs in the surrounding area have also joined this league and it continues to be very successful today.
Several teams enter the summer Colchester and District leagues. 2011 saw the introduction of a successful singles league, enabling players to improve their LTA rating.
Membership
While courts are available on pay and play basis, becoming a member of Wivenhoe Tennis Club offers you so much more. 5 different types of membership is available and fees are affordable. Visitors are welcome to attend 3 club play sessions for free, before deciding to join.
