Petworth House Tennis Court
With a history dating back to 1872, Petworth House Tennis Court is a real tennis club situated in Petworth, West Sussex. Real Tennis, sometimes known as Royal Tennis is a fascinating indoor racket sport.
Real tennis is considered to be the original Tudor game, from which lawn tennis has evolved. Henry VIII would recognise a game of real tennis if he saw it today: it has changed little since he enjoyed it.
Today, only a small number of active courts still remain in the United Kingdom, Australia, United States and France. So, when you play at Petworth House Tennis Court, you are enjoying a game, few do and are part of the game’s long history.
