Ashby Castle Lawn Tennis Club
Ashby Castle Lawn Tennis Club is a friendly, vibrant club with a large membership, widely ranging in age, ability and background. The clubhouse balcony affords pleasant views across the Bath Grounds to the countryside beyond and near the eastern boundary of the courts the mighty Hastings tower rises from the ruins of Ashby Castle.
Social Play
There are the two club nights per week on Tuesday and Friday nights. All members are welcome and everyone has an opportunity to play with different partners and opponents, usually doubles. These sessions are ideal for playing tennis in a friendly and sociable atmosphere. However, they are not for the complete beginner. Also members meet on Thursday mornings.
Coaching
The club boasts a strong and vibrant year round coaching programme with opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. For juniors, during term time there are weekly classes and through the holiday period, holiday camps are run.
Competitive Tennis
With a whole host of competitive tennis, Ashby Castle Lawn Tennis Club has a lot to offer. Mens and ladies teams compete in the Leicestershire County Summer League. In the Summer Burton League, the club competes with mens, ladies, and mixed teams. In the Winter League mens and ladies teams play in the Leicestershire League.
Finally, the club organises many tournaments throughout the year, both large and small. These include Town Tournament, held at the club with players coming from neighbouring counties to compete. Also, in September there is the Club Championships, open only to club members.
