Ackworth Tennis Club
The Ackworth Tennis Club started mid July 2012 supported by grants from the WMDC Community Chest and Ackworth Parish Council. The club is open to all ages and abilities. So grab your racket, let’s get on court!
Social Play
The concept of the club is based on assisting members to enjoy playing in a social environment as well as hosting regular Social Meetings. So that players will have a chance to meet and interact with new people.
The Club meets on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings and, on Saturdays and Sundays on the excellent courts kindly offered at Ackworth School (for a payment) situated on Pontefract Road in an excellent environment.
Coaching
Alice Robson, an LTA accredited Level 3 Coach heads the club’s coaching programme. She has been coaching for 7 years and is a qualified referee and Cardio Tennis coach. Alice offers adult and junior group sessions as well as private lessons.
Competitive Tennis
The club has recently started to compete in the Wakefield and District Tennis League. And as a result, tennis players of a more competitive nature are welcome to join teams and help the club expand.
Membership
As an inclusive club, Ackworth Tennis Club offers a range of membership options , all of which are highly affordable. And since there’s no joining fees, it’s easy to become a member! Plus if you’re thinking about joining, the club would enjoy showing you around and explain more about the club.
